He has won a sanghoki seat, he has won an Aussie Millions seat and now he has won the Summer Champs Tournament of Champions.
A lot of the players talked up making a return trip to the Aussie Millions, and Jester3 and Lennie10 both followed that talk up with a seat in the TOC after battling to the top 30 of the Summer Championships.
Summer Champs Leaderboard runnaway leader fabrab was an early casualty in the TOC, going out in 24th place when his pocket jacks ran into the pocket queens on sapcunc.
The leaderboard standings were not an indication of who would make the final table. From the top ten only DavidCruz (8th) and Jester3 (5th) were able to follow up the good leaderboard result with a final table appearance.
Of the rest, JamesScou who was fourth on the leaderboard went out in 29th, Mada1970 (6th) went out in 25th, fabrab (1st ) went out in 24th, hypnotrader (7th) went out in 23rd, RobinBos (2nd) went out in 22nd, FoldMonkey (10th) went out in 19th, PJesus (9th) went out in 14th and finally ghostofachance (4th) went out in 12th.
DavidCruz went first from the final table, out in 10th place. He moved all in under the gun with pocket 8’s only to be called down by Lennie10 in the big blind with pocket aces. Nothing higher than a queen came on board so the aces held up and DavidCruz was knocked out.
Jester3 only lasted a few places later, his day ended again at the hands of Lennie10. The hand started with a raise from slaport with 9-7 offsuit, Jester3 and Lennie10 made the call with AQ offsuit and AKoff respectivly. 8(h) A (d) K(h) on the flop saw slaport check his way out of the hand, Jester3 with top pair and a flush draw raised only to have Lennie10 re-raise all in. Jester made the tough call and was chasing a heart. With a heartless turn and river, his day was over.
Forum regular NeoBahmut was next out in fifth, he called down Lennie10’s all in bet only to find his Q8 all hearts thoroughly dominated by Lennie10’s pocket kings.
BobbyOlsen was next to go, he made a move with A-10 off and ran into slaport with pocket 9’s, no help from the board saw BobbyOlsen out in 4th.
Amazingly of the final 3 players 2 were female, HouseKat and slaport had a great Summer Champs overall to make the top 30, and then backed it up to make it to the final 3.
Another regular forum’er HouseKat was the first of the ladies to be eliminated, she went out in third. She pushed all in under the gun with K-2 off suit and was called down by the small blind Lennie10, the big blind slaport folded what would have been the winning hand, pocket 7’s. Amazingly the board missed both HouseKat and Lennie10, and Lennie10 took down the hand with the high card.
Her undoing came a few hands earlier though. Starting the hand HouseKat had 44,200 in chips, and slaport had 31,339. HouseKat was the big blind for 2,000 and after Jester3 folded slaport raised from the small blind to 4,000 with pocket aces and HouseKat made the loose call with 10-6 offsuit. Amazing the flop rains down a great aces cracking flop of 10-5-6 giving HouseKat top 2 pair. Slaport was first to act and bet out 6,000 only to be raised the same amount by HouseKat, slaport came all in over the top and HouseKat made the call. Preflop slaport would have had about an 85% chance to take down the pot, post flop that spun completely into HouseKat’s favor to the tune of around 70%. The 3 of clubs on the turn bumped that up to around 81%, with slaport needing an ace or the board to pair to take down the pot. The river was kind to slaport and it brought a 5, pairing the board and giving her the pot with the higher 2 pair. That left HouseKat with only 12,000 well behind slaport (62,000) and Lennie10 (73,000).
The heads up match lasted some 14 hands, but it was all but over after the seventh of those, hand number #8384236-350. Now I met Lennie10 in Melbourne, and he was one of the nicest guys in the group we had out, but when he gets to Melbourne this year Im going to make him wear a shirt with a huge 4 leaf clover on it all week…. cos he got down right lucky!
Im pretty sure poor slaport will be dreaming about this horror hand for quite some time, she was the small blind for 1,500 and made it 6,000 to go, Lennie10 made the call from the small blind. The flop came down 8-5-Q and slaport made it another 9,000 to go, holding POCKET ACES, Lennie10 came over the top all in with 10-5 off suit. At this stage slaport probably started looking for her passport, she was 80% chance to win the hand and had Lennie10 covered by some 10,000 in chips. That completely flipped with the flop, a 10 on the turn and Lennie had snuck into the lead and slaport had only one card left to come to save her………. and this time it didn’t come. After what looked like a great flop for pocket aces up against 2 random cards wall all undone on the turn. (I will post the video of this tomorrow when Im finished editing it just so you can relive the horror in real time.)
The tourney ran on for 7 more hands but with such a massive chip lead it was all but over and slaport was eventually eliminated when she moved all in with 7-6 off over a raise from Lennie10 with his 7-5. Lennie10 made 2 pair and the tourney was over.
Congratulations to Lennie10 for winning yet another live tournament seat, I look forward to sitting down with you in Melbourne so you can explain to me how you moved all in with a pair of fives…. and somehow cracked pocket aces.
And congratulations to everyone who took part in the Tournament of Champions, you all played great poker to get there, and it it took some great poker to knock you out.
We have the full video of the final table from the TOC and will update it here as soon as we finish editing it.
